Lisbon - Central Portugal
History, Culture & Tradition

Make Lisbon your new home and discover central Portugal!

There is no way to escape Lisbon’s charm. Every corner of Portugal’s capital city is full of surprises you will discover through all your senses. Getting lost in the little alleyways of its quaint quarters is the best way to understand its history and popular culture. Having a glass of green wine & grilled sardines in a hidden tasquinha, is delving into one of the most basic elements of Portuguese cuisine. Listening to a lost fado, is the beginning of getting a feeling only Portuguese have a word for: “saudade”. Visiting the UNESCO town of Sintra is getting to live all those tales you read as a kid. Riding a tram to Belem to have a custard tart, is living how locals do and walking by the walls of the medieval town of Obidos, is a chance to travel back in time. Join us and discover one of Europe´s oldest cities - Bem vindo a Lisboa!

Day 1

Welcome to Lisbon

Today your adventure begins. Your local host will come and meet you at the accommodation. Today we will take it easy and let you settle in; all we have planned is a delicious welcome dinner at one of our favourite spots in the heart of the city. You can expect a blend of traditional and modern in a cosy atmosphere. Have a good night's sleep, tomorrow is a new day. Boa noite!

Day 2

First encounter with your new home

It's time to discover your new home! Your host will take you for a walk around the city. We try and avoid doing the same walk most companies do with the same info you can find on Wikipedia. How do we do that? Easy, your host was born and raised in the country and knows it inside-out. Walk the picturesque streets of this colourful city, marvel at its unique architecture and enjoy the best views of the Tejo River! The entrance ticket to Saint George's castle is also part of the deal!

Day 3

Explore Sintra and visit the Pena Palace

Today you will go by train to the town of Sintra, a UNESCO world heritage site. Once there you will have time to explore the city (you will go from to place by bus). There is a lot to see in this magical place. As part of the tour, you have the entrance ticket to Pena Palace included. This Romanticist palace on top of a hill is something you thought only existed in fairy tales. Take your time and enjoy!

Day 4

 Belem, natas and fado

Take it easy today and then go and explore the Belem area. In Belem, you will find some of the most iconic landmarks this city has to offer, from the Belem Tower to the Discoveries monument. You will also enjoy an included "nata" with coffee in one of the best places in the country. Alternatively, you could visit the aristocratic town of Cascais, where the Portuguese royal family used to spend their summers. Tonight you also have an included fado performance in an amazing building in central Lisbon (no dinner during the show, so maybe go and eat a bifana first!)

Day 5

Caparica, Almada and Ginjal

What about a pleasant day by the coast? Go and visit by bus the neighbouring town of Caparica, where locals go in summer! You can expect a beautiful walk, a swim in the waters of the Atlantic and a delicious included lunch (we hope you like seafood). Then go to Almada and get on board a replica of a "Fragata" that used to sail between Portugal and India & go see all the urban art Ginjal has in store for you.

Day 6

The medieval town of Obidos

Today we have a special surprise, we are taking you back to medieval times by visiting the incredible town of Obidos! A truly unique place with intact walls and traditions. A pleasant bus ride is all it takes to go back to the 16th century. Once there, get ready to get lost in the labyrinth created by its little alleyways with cobblestone, white houses and bougainvillaea. Without a doubt, Obidos is one of Portugal´s most beautiful towns.

Day 7

 Free day and farewell dinner

Take advantage and visit the museums you wanted to see or just walk the alleyways of your favourite quarters. Do not hesitate to ask your host for suggestions - Tonight a farewell dinner awaits, so you can get a final taste of the best cuisine in town and talk about the memories you have forged.

Day 8

Until we meet again

We hope you loved your time with us. Do not hesitate to ask us for suggestions on how to get back to the airport or make arrangements for your next adventure. Ate a proxima!
